A couple folks asked how the cats are doing. Fish and Sif are all right, just bitchy and crazy, respectively. Sif doesn't do much, and Fish mostly skulks and poops on the floor, so, nothing terribly photogenic going on there.

You get the boys today.

Etrigan first, because he's an asshole. (He actually answers to "Asshole". The folks at the vet find this amusing.)

Etrigan and Bunnsley 1

Etrigan and Bunnsley 2

Sometimes I come in and find him snuggling Bunnsley, the stuffed rabbit I sleep with. I don't know. It's better than walking in on him and Smooch dry-humping each other, which happens more often than I would like. I didn't know cats would do that. I mean, I guess I did, but they do it fairly frequently.

Etrigan is a terrible lap cat

In that picture above, he does not look happy. I assure you, he put himself in that position, trying to put his ass in my face while simultaneously lying on top of his head with his nose in my crotch.

Etrigan loves Christmas 1

Etrigan loves Christmas 2

He loved this particular piece of wrapping paper so much we left it out for, like, a month. It was box-shaped, but soft, and it crinkled. Perfect.

Below, you can see him stretched out by the presents under the tree. You can also see how beautifully-built he is, and what a lovely coat he has. He really is incredibly beautiful. He's just stupid as a rotten log.

Christmas panther

And, last, this one, which I have already made you look at and am making you look at again:

SEXY BEAST

He's so cute. Fucking dumbass.
Next, Smooch! He's still funny-looking.

Smooch is proud of himself

I came out and found him like that, with his toy draped over him. He dragged it onto the couch and decided to take a nap.

Usually, he sleeps more like this:

the terrifying YETI-CAT

Sometimes he comes awake from a dead sleep with a startled sort of yawp, or a spit. He has nightmares, poor dude. I don't know what about, but they bother him, and sometimes he cries afterward and I have to put everything down and run over and comfort him, because Jesus Christ, a sad Yeti is the saddest fucking thing you ever saw.

YETI CHOMP

Sometimes he decides he wants to nibble my fingers. The inside of his mouth is seriously fucked up.

Anyway, there you go. Cat pics for a Wednesday.

I've learned that the best way to wrap presents is to give Chihiro a sacrificial piece of wrapping paper, and then shut her out of the room I'm trying to wrap in. She'll leave wrapped presents alone as long as she has her sacrificial piece- and it has to be a decent-sized piece, too. But once she's bored with it after a few weeks, I put said sheet back in the closet and give it to her again the next time I need to wrap something. Sometimes this works and other times she demands a fresh sacrifice.

Oh, cats. *pets Chihiro* I got an extra blanket out the other day due to the temperature deciding to drop 40 degrees and the building not keeping up. She has claimed this blanket as her nest and I can't bear to put it away, she looks so COMFY on it.

Yeah, when they decide they really love something, it becomes impossible to move them off it without feeling crushing guilt.

I will have to try the sacrificial piece of wrapping paper, because these boys are HUGE pains in the ass about it.

When we ordered those books from Createspace, they'd send us boxes, and the extra space would be packed with long crinkled-up coils of packing paper, like the stuff paper grocery bags are made of. We still have FOUR of them lying around the house because Etrigan loves diving into them and rolling in them and throwing his mouse in there and jumping after it SO MUCH we can't bring ourselves to take it away from him.

Thank you! I really needed these!

Hey, if you're gorgeous, you don't NEED to be smart! Some lovely Pirate Wench will just adopt you and give you a heavenly home, right? *laughs*

If they mutually dry-hump, perhaps Etrigan is Smooch's boi-toy? You HAVE to be gorgeous if you want to be a kept boi.

By the way...is it WRONG that the pics of Etrigan with Bunnsley remind me of Hunter S. Thomcat with Copernicus the Homicidal Monkey? See here:

http://thebloggess.com/2012/10/strange-bedfellows/

Although to be really, REALLY creepy, Copernicus is a REAL taxidermied monkey with a deteriorating face that Jenny/The Bloggess chased around her husband with, going: "I want to eat your faaaaaaace! Your skin looks delicious!"

Yay, kitty pics!!! :D

Etrigan is beautiful and really looks like a demon spawn! *LOL* And that's an adorable picture of Smooch! That's really sweet that you comfort him after he has nightmares. :) Poor kitty!

He's so pitiful and looks like such a big helpless baby when he wakes up from one. It makes me sad to think that he gets scared in his sleep and freaks out. I know those feels, bro.

Awwwww, love the boys!! Etrigan in the wrapping paper is especially sweet, and Smooch giving you the noms!

(I knew Smooch had some facial-development issues -- does he have a partial cleft palate? Poor little dude, but I'm so happy he has you to love him and to comfort him when he has bad dreams.)

Zuul had a nightmare recently that scared the CRAP out of Bastian and I -- she always talks in her sleep a little ("hnnnn. hnnnn. hnnnn.") and occasionally makes little noises (along with the twitching-paws/whiskers thing that most cats do), but a week or two ago, she made this unearthly "rrrrEEEAAARRR" noise that got Bastian up and alert, and then I sat up (she was sleeping by my feet), and she did it again ("rrrrAAAWWWWRRRR!") and once more, even louder ("RRRREEEEEEAAAARRR!!!" -- picture the kids' horror story "Give me back my bone!"), and then she

fell

utterly

silent

and was completely unresponsive as I was petting her (and eventually shaking her a little!) to try to get her to wake up -- she was lying on her back doing bunny-paws with her mouth open a little, and she quite frankly looked DEAD, and I started having the beginnings of a panic attack, and then she opened her eyes and looked confused to find Bastian and I leaning over her with expressions of horror.

*shudder* DID NOT NEED THAT PARTICULAR FREAKOUT, THANKS!!!

But, yeah -- when I can tell she's having a dream that seems to be intense in a bad way, I cuddle her and give her pettins and it seems to calm her down. I do the same to Josh, who is plagued with nightmares (poor guy, he so rarely gets a good night's sleep, because his brain is an asshole when he's stressed.)

Oh, and Zuul DOES answer to "Asshole!", too, mostly when she's just cut somebody and is feeling rather self-satisfied. I think she believes it means "Queen of All She Surveys, and You'd Better Damn Well Know It, Pink Thing!"

<3!

*DIES laughing*

Okay, I am sure it would not have been as funny if I had been there to be alarmed by the noise, but that is, from a distance, hilarious.

He doesn't appear to have a cleft palate so much as his whole face and mouth is just kind of warped and twisted, and that one side of his face is squished in. I do think he's beautiful, still, he's just extra-silly, too.

KITTIES!!!!!!

When we were teens, my best friends brothers had dogs named 'Feyo' (ugly) and 'Fart-fart'. Their mom HATED it when the dogs got out and she had to go out on the sidewalk and call for them.

Last time we were at the vet, my dog was being stubborn and refused to get on the scale. I got frustrated after 5 minutes of 'hop on hop off' and moaned, "Knock it off, Richard! Let's just get this the fuck over with." The tech froze, and said, "Wait, do I have the wrong file? I thought this dog was named Foster." Meanwhile, my little black Lab is sitting on the scale, with the guilty-dog-sad-eyes "I know I screwed up, but how can you discipline this face?" "No, his name is Foster, I just call him Richard when he's being a dick."

Hey, I was just wondering if, in your mental illness adventures, you've had anything to do with Venlafaxine/Effexor? My patner's just been put on it and I'm reading about withdrawal and freaking my tits off about it.

Date: 2013-03-02 02:19 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] naamah-darling.livejournal.com
Oooooh, no, I haven't. I'm sorry, I wish I did, or had any helpful input, but I don't even know that I know anyone who is on it.

Although I get the freakage with withdrawal. It's not exactly the same issue with the Lamictal, but I can't go off it suddenly, or I might, like, have sudden seizures for no reason or something. And that's scary. And when I was on daily lorazepam, that DID cause withdrawal, and that sucked. But I'm SO happy with the Lamictal, and am glad I took the chance despite it having that scary side effect potential, and with the lorazepam, well, I got through it and I'm okay, and it's now another point in my data set. And lovely writing fodder. I now know what low-grade benzodiazepine withdrawal is like! Uuuuuuuuugh.

I hope it works out, and that you can get the answers you need from whoever is prescribing it. :/

No worries, thanks anyway! Figured it couldn't help to ask. :) I'm on Lorazepam, but only when needed, thankfully.

I'm on it. The withdrawal is not pleasant, but it's manageable. And if you take the extended release stuff, it takes several hours to kick in, so you have a bit of a window to take the next dose.

I love them. I love your cats. I am obsessed with your cats. Sexy, idiotic, fucked-up adorable beasts.

This has really cheered me up, absolutely. You know. Because of the seizures, and the fibromyalgia flares, and the depression, and the mild paranoia. And now I see stories about two of my favorite cats, and I realize that all is right in the world.

Smooch was sleeping next to me on the couch and had another nightmare today. I scooped him right up and lay him in my arms belly-up, like a baby, and he was still all drowsy, so he just gave me this ^_- dreamy look with his funny faaaaaace and his enormous hairy yeti-paws spread out, and then he let his head loll back and went back to sleep. He's so non-demonstrative most of the time, he's very aloof, but sometimes I get to see how safe he feels with me. It's nice.
