Two announcements and two requests!

Witches' Mark is available on Smashwords!

As soon as it is available on Amazon, I will pop the link in here. They are taking their time about it. Should be another few hours.

The Smashwords page features what is probably the best summary/jacket copy I've ever written, for the long description. Just saying.

The ebook contains a bonus 25,000-word novella: How I Met Your Master. If you want more kinky, dysfunctional, disturbing sex, all gay, the novella is totally for you. That is a lot of extra.

Also, you can now get Pride and Prostitutes on Amazon, for those of you who don't have a Smashwords account!

It's also still available on Smashwords.

The price in both places has been dropped by a dollar, down to only $2.99!

On to the requests: first, don't be shy about reviewing our books! At Smashwords you have to have bought the book from there to review it, but not at Amazon. Anyone can review it at Amazon. So give it some thought! Reviews are really helpful in building buyer confidence.

Second, please, please consider joining the site and spreading the word to friends. Five dollars a month minimum, though you can always give more. I don't like putting it so bluntly, but this and my art are our only income. My art sales are nonexistent right now, and our income has dropped dramatically since we moved off of LJ, so we are basically living off of money from my dad. I would like this to not be the case, but right now we're not even breaking the high triple digits with our own income. So if you'd like to see me continue . . . well, doing anything, really, give it some thought. Or donate! Here is a convenient button:

Pride and Prostitutes Chapter 29: Something Wicked is up over at [livejournal.com profile] fever_dreams!

Can't say he didn't have it coming.

Sargon made an announcement over at his journal. It doesn't affect anything, but it does mark -- dear gods, I hope -- the beginning of one thing and the end of another. He's dropped his collections business and is switching to working on [livejournal.com profile] fever_dreams full time.

We are going to make a go of this. Self-published, self-marketed adventurotica. Catchy, no? The domain is mine now. Over time we're going to transition from this model to a more straightforward subscription/e-pub/print on demand model. (Don't worry, the entirety of Pride and Prostitutes will be released under this model -- any donation, any amount, gets you in.) We are really going to try to make this work.

I am, as I don't think I need to tell you but am apparently going to tell you anyway, fucking terrified by this. Which is ludicrous, considering that we're doing better with this than we were with the other thing, but fear is not always the most rational thing.

But I am also excited and hopeful, too. This will give me a way to do what I want to do without having to rope myself in. Every single other publisher I have looked at has something that means a good chunk of my work would be ineligible for publication. They don't like non-con, they don't want anything over 120,000 words, they want a clear and obvious romance angle, they want more porn and less plot, or less porn and more plot.

All of those are perfectly reasonable limitations to have, I understand them, but I am apparently not capable of staying inside the lines. When I try, I fizzle out. I hate playing my game -- a game I play really damn well -- by other people's rules, even when they are really reasonable rules.

I've spent years trying to grow out of that, and it just ain't happening. I'm getting too old to pretend that it ever will. It's apparently an indelible feature of my personality, one I'm going to have to learn to work around. And Sargon, he is the same damn way.

So that, I think, will have to be our strength. No ropes, no fences, no limits. This frees us to write stuff as tame or as terrifying as we like, any format we like, any genre. It will let us be as goofy and as alliterative and as shamelessly cheesy as we please -- and I do love cheesy. We have space opera and superheroes and sexy werewolves and foxy witches and sex in every flavor from vanilla to OH GOD NO.

In the future, I may go for publication with a larger house. The beauty of this thing is that it won't interfere with that. Most of this is stuff that they wouldn't be able to take.

If there's not a place for what we do, we will just have to make one.

And I am so fucking grateful, y'all, that you are helping. So fucking grateful I cannot even describe it.

These stories come from our world, our shared world. They're stories we tell each other or worked on together or fantasized for ourselves. Putting that out there, having that be what we do, I can't imagine anything I want more. No, not even Ben Barnes holding up a "spank me" sign.

I want this.

And I guess, now, it's sort of our job to make youall want it, too.

An announcement from both [livejournal.com profile] naamah_darling and [livejournal.com profile] sargon999.

So a lot of you signed up to [livejournal.com profile] fever_dreams for some porn, and for the moment Vengeance & Valor is on hiatus pending technical difficulties.* We know you are missing it, and we are sorry that all y'all only got to read like ¼ of a book. (I would film myself being mauled by space bears while reciting haiku poetry about what a horrible failure I feel like, but Sargon says that is not likely to fix anything, and I can't find any fucking space bears around here anyway. Also, haiku give me hives. But I do feel really, really bad. – Naamah)

In fact we hope you are missing it, because we are re-launching [livejournal.com profile] fever_dreams with a whole new novel at the beginning of November. The good news is that we will be providing a lot of content, and it will have oh yeah some serious porn going on. In the spirit of NaNoWriMo month we will be pumping out (see what we did there?) a novel worth of adventure, romance, fucking, and stuff blowing the hell up – all in a month. Yes, you will get three updates a week this time, 3,000-4,000 words at a whack.

We keep saying “we”, because this whole project will be Naamah and Sargon collaborating. (Thank you spellcheck. I cannot even spell “collaborating” – you are seeing it corrected there, but be glad you can’t see the twisted abomination I originally brought forth. – Sargon) (I can't believe you just wrote that. – Naamah) Working together, we will be combining our talents: Naamah with her weapons-grade smuttiness (and functional internal spell-check), Sargon with his love of all other kinds of “action”. This way, we can help each other out and hopefully make shit as awesome as possible. (Those of you who have never read Sargon's porn can rest assured that it is as awesome as mine, and we will be trading out. Give it a couple of chapters. You won't see the seams. those of you who HAVE read Sargon's porn, feel free to step up and testify. – Naamah)

What’s the bad news, you ask? The bad news is that we will be asking for donations. Again. You see, Naamah and Sargon have a very definite goal this time, which is “Save our Holidays.” Cash is getting tight around here, and while we are not to the point of missing house payments yet, or pretending that pea gravel is just the same as psych meds, really, it would be nice if we didn’t get to that. Instead, we are faced with the prospect of not really having any money for Xmas this year. Maybe next year we’ll have a “Save our Frigging House” drive, or a "Drug The Werewolf" drive, but now, we just want to not be sitting around a tree on December 25 with a couple of used books, some pipe cleaners, and a box of baking soda wrapped in newspaper for Holiday Cheer.

So come November the 1st there will be a big chapter of awesome on [livejournal.com profile] fever_dreams with a big shiny DONATE button on it, and all we ask is that you give if you like what you read.

We’re not being stingy here – you are going to get a book’s worth of fun for your donation, as we are aiming for 50,000 words minimum by the end of November. And if the story isn’t through then we’ll just keep going. If this works well we’ll turn this into the “Awesome Online Book of the Month Club” and keep it going. There will be a teaser post sometime before the end of October to roll out the trailer for our new story, which will be titled - in the spirit of things here - Pride & Prostitution.

Mark it on your calendars, it will be awesomeness.

P.S.: I, Naamah, promise that, when there is no boy-sex happening plot-wise, I will fanfic my own characters and write y'all some spinoff slash from time to time. Might even take requests.

* Technical difficulties: I actually might have a publisher for the thing, but I have to A) finish it and B) not post any more of it publicly until they have a chance to look at it. I am less than pleased with this. In making the right choice for the book, I have temporarily left you guys hanging. The bright side is that you WILL get to read the whole thing someday.
