Jetan Set - Barsoomian Chess

The Jetan set is up on my Etsy!

If y'all want to link it around, that'd be awesome.

If you're on Tumblr, I posted about it here.

There's also a Burroughs-style mini essay there, detailing the origin of the artifact. I'm sticking it here under a cut as well, so I don't lose it.

A note from the panthan who made this set )

What's all this then?

I dug out all the tribal animal designs I have left! All the ones I can find, anyhow.

Tribal Animal Designs

Click on the picture to go to my etsy shop and get a load of the animal portraits there!

These are done in India ink on lightweight golden parchment paper. These are the original masters for designs I worked out for boxes and shirts and so forth that I haven't gotten around to making. They are the only ones there are (there's two of the lynx and tiger), but I have masters for these designs and may make more or use the designs on boxes, etc.

If these do okay, I may do more, or open up for limited tribal animal commissions (I've done them before and they're fun, if not as simple as they look).

If the one you want has been sold out (you can see sold orders here), let me know in comments, and I'll see about doing one up for you.

Also, I got really goofy in the copy for these. Enjoy.

Guys, I hate to flog it in public like this, but I'm in a bit of a pickle.

I just chipped two teeth -- by closing my mouth, I know, I should be more careful -- which means a dentist's visit, and probably around $300 in repairs and x-rays (I am guessing; can't get a real quote until I can call my dentist tomorrow morning).

I also need to go see my regular doc and get bloodwork done, and bring up the rage-y episodes I've been having. That's another $150 right there. And I'd like to see a psych and get my meds professionally evaluated, because if I'm having rage like that, clearly there is a problem.

There's also other stuff that I'm not going to talk about yet, but that needs attention urgently; I can't say more than "It's really, really fucking important."

It's a bunch of shit hitting all at once, and I didn't need it, and I can't afford it all, even with the sale I had last week and folks' generous purchases.

So!

You can join up over at Adventurotica! The new serial is still rockin' along!

Also, I'm extending the 15% off sale at Morningstar Hall.

Enter code XMAS2011 at checkout to get 15% off all purchases at Morningstarhall.etsy.com!

Maps 01 logo

Pirate maps are still buy two or more, get envelopes to go with each.

I will be making these to order, so it will take a little longer to get stuff painted up and ribboned up and sent out.

You can also donate directly with the PayPal button below, which is incredibly welcome.

As incentive, if you buy something or donate and comment to let me know you did (so I can keep track and also have an easy way to notify you) I will put your name in a feathery pirate hat, recite a pirate rhyme, and draw a winner. The winner gets one of these in their choice of color:

Deluxe 1

Deluxe 3

I will draw on Wednesday, December 14.

It's one of my full-sized fairy jewels, with seed beads strung along the whorls. I haven't offered one of these for sale, just made them for family and friends, so you'll be getting something there aren't many of. I have nine colors available, so there's plenty of love to go around.

Do I need to mention, I have lots of these guys' little siblings in my shop, waiting to make someone you love very happy every time they look at it? Yes?

ALL the shinies!

Morningstar Hall Cyber Monday Sale!

You can get 15% off of everything, anything, in my shop with the following coupon code:

XMAS2011

Just enter it at checkout to get 15% off everything you order (not including shipping).

I have a buttload of little faery jewel suncatchers. These make wonderful, pretty little gifts, and the small ones are under twenty dollars.

If you don't see a color you like, I might have stones that color in stock, so don't be afraid to ask me! I will do special orders on these.

PLUS! Special pirate map promotion!

Between now and Christmas, if you order more than one pirate map, you get a free ribboned and sealed envelope for each of them!

What's this? Envelopes? How is that awesome?

Let me 'splain. They're hand-cut and detailed with real wax seals, satin ribbon, and metallic edging, and because they fit together with tab and slot, they are completely resealable. They are the perfect way to present a map. How lovely are they? This lovely:

Pirate Map Envelopes 5

Order more than one map, and you'll get one of these for each. Or you can get one directly, if you are only ordering one. You can choose your color. Look here for your options!

Envelopes ahoy!

You don't have to add the envelopes to your cart from that listing! I'll include them! Just convo or email me with your preferences, or include them in the PayPal comments to seller field.

Also, if you order more than one, the pirate maps will ship free!

So hie on over, and support independent artists this holiday season!

New style of box up on Etsy!

Orange-Lined Card Box 01

The design is from a 16th-century German playing card. The deck has books as one of the suits, and it's pretty awesome.

I have done three of these. This is the first I've offered for sale, and the first look y'all have had of it. This box, instead of the usual simple felt lining, has a full woven cloth lining. Look through the pics to see how awesome it is!

More pics this way! )

And you can buy it!

But wait! There's more!

Antiqued Card Box 06

One of the more awesome prop setups I've done, IMO.

This is the one I experimented on, and which I am keeping. It is so awesome.

YET MORE AWESOME. )

Anyway.

So that's Thing I Made Thursday, hopefully back on track for a good long while.

Pirate treasure maps on Etsy!

X marks the spot!

Click the link or the picture!

I hated having to price them that high, but they are all completely unique and completely hand-finished, and it takes about an hour and a half to do each one. More if there's a lot of trees or coastline.

Pirate Map Mosaic

That's a fairly typical example, though the ones I'm selling are sealed and ribboned.

I've been working a lot and listing a lot of stuff over at my Etsy page.

In time for Halloween, I bring you a special surprise: prop magic wands! These are seriously cool. Click the pics to go to the sale page.

Bone-Hilted Femur Wand I 1

Bone-Hilted Femur Wand I 3

Those two are of my favorite, lovingly sculpted from the femur of a garden gnome. (Okay, it's really polyclay over wood, but don't tell anyone!)

Thinking about listing the re-titled book as well. (The blue one, not the leather one, which is not for sale!) I found a tutorial for these and thought The Fine Art of Poisoning would be the perfect title for a book about deadly decoctions, as well as being an homage to an album I really like. I want to age it some more, though.

Short Bone-Hilted Wand I 1

Long Bone-Hilted Wand I 3

One for smaller hands and one for larger hands! Both are quite comfortable to hold.

The leatherbound book is an antique photo album, a gorgeous thing I picked up for a scandalously (so I believe, anyway) low price at a huge flea market. It looks for all the world like a spellbook.

The skull is a Reeve's muntjac, which are adorable as meat-creatures, but look kind of sinister as skulls. I love this little guy.

I also listed a few of these:

Woodburned Eye of Horus Box I 1

Woodburned Skull Box I 2

Tiny little boxes with woodburned designs on the lid. Great for holding small, loose curiosities or spell components.

I will be listing some actual painted trinket boxes soon, just as a heads up for those of you who have been wanting to buy one.

I hope you all don't mind. There's going to be a lot of art posts coming up along with corresponding sales, because I've been making a lot of stuff, I want y'all to see it, and I also want to sell it. I'm still trying to decide how to go about it (several items once a week vs. one item several times a week).

I know it's just a little late, Christmas being so close and all, but if you have an Etsy shop, by all means drop a link in the comments here. I'll go add them to the main body of the post.

Many of these folks won't be able to ship again before Christmas, but remember: late gifts are freakin' awesome and prolong the happiness of the season. I am into late gifts, always have been. Also, maybe you get Christmas money. Bad luck to leave it sitting around until the new year. Ahem.

Since she kick-started the idea, and I said I would, I will start with [livejournal.com profile] queenlyzard's The Fun and the Crafty: cute woven pine needle baskets.

Anapurna by [livejournal.com profile] pearlandopal: fantasy-themed jewelry, some REALLY beautiful stuff here.

AFMetalsmith by [livejournal.com profile] cissa: handmade original jewelry and metalworking, much with Celtic elements.

Crowbirdie Beads: lampwork beads shaped like critters! Insanely cute!

Nine more mini stones up for sale at Morningstar Hall's Etsy.

A preview:

I have about ten more I just need to photograph. I'll try to get those up early next week.

In the meantime, if there's a color combination you really want, and you are willing to buy something unseen, comment here, email me, or convo me in Etsy and tell me your Etsy username and what you want. I may have one like that already made, or could whip one up in a couple of days. I can put up a custom listing for you in nothing flat.

Notes:

I will not be shipping until midweek next week. Assume Wednesday or Thursday.

I'm switching to bubble mailers sent first-class for most orders. Everything is securely and sturdily boxed.

If you are outside the US and you want to buy, comment, email, or convo me in Etsy, tell me which thing you want, and I will go manually input the appropriate shipping. Otherwise, you actually won't be able to order. I don't mind doing this! You are, however, responsible for any fees that your country may charge you when you go to pick it up.

Some of these were boxed up and sealed with ribbons included, and some of them, err, weren't. Sorry about that. If it says there's a ribbon in the listing, there's a ribbon. If it doesn't, there's not. I don't figure this is a huge deal, but I thought I would say hey, I noticed I screwed up there.

I am switching glue to hold the stones to the backing for shipping. Hot glue is secure but hard to remove. Stuff that was listed last time or the time before will still have the tougher glue, but all the new stuff will have more removable stuff. Hopefully it will work the way it's supposed to.

I am really loving the interface at Etsy vs the interface at eBay. It's a lot easier for a visual monkey like me to use.

I have a new style of hanger figured out, which I like rather well (though for Christmas trees, I think the old-style hangers are still better). I also listed my first black ornament.

Key to Midnight Faery Stone 4

I can't call it a suncatcher, really, when it's not translucent, but boy is it cool.

I also have four miniature versions, tiny little ornamental pendants.

Celestial Sphere Mini Faery Stone 4

Anyway, there are four mini stones up right now, in red, cobalt, amethyst, and aquamarine!

The wire is very soft but they're wearable as long as you're careful with them. They are also a lot smaller and easier to display anywhere and everywhere.

Go, look, have fun!
