It was about two years ago, yeah.

I've been going through old photo files, and found some I never posted.

I am pretty sure that's Jack, with Emelia's head and ear just visible over his shoulder.

Jack

This is Viktor and Emelia (left to right), also in my lap, three days earlier.

Twins

Full set here.

They are all doing fine, last I heard. I do miss them a lot, though not as badly as I used to. I don't, like, get all teary about it anymore.

They are so little for such a short time. I am actually sorry I didn't take more pictures!

I don't care what you are doing or where you have to be, you have to go to this entry on SplodeFromCute and look at the utter mind-bending adorableness of Ziggy and Zora.

I've been following them on the comm for a while now, and usually figure everyone who wants to see kitten videos can go see them there if they want to, but I'm pushing you to go look this time. The videos. The videos! EVERY SINGLE ONE is 'splodeworthy.

And I have to say Zora is one of the more beautiful cats I have ever, ever seen. I know Bengals are a particularly lovely breed, but . . . WOW.

GO LOOK.

Please help spread the word!

Our good friends Elspeth and Dana, who adopted two of the rescue kittens I cared for a while back, have to move out of state in January, and due to the lack of warning they aren't going to be able to take their cats. They need to find a home for Viktor and Emelia ASAP. This is unavoidable, non-negotiable, and sucky.

These are the kittens brought to me at a week old.

The kittens of such adorability that it came with a warning label and made it on Cute Overload.

Emelia Beautiful

The kittens you all helped me take care of so generously, and who owe a lot to you through me.

Six Weeks Old 01

They are no longer tiny little things. They are full-grown cats. These are the most recent pictures of them I can find on my Flickr.

Big Em 04

Big Viktor 01

I still love them, even though I don't see them that often. I really can't, however, take them in right now. We are having behavior/litter box problems as it is. This is not for lack of love, it's just me knowing the limits of my household, and hating those limits.

This is all very sudden, we only found out about the move on Thursday. I am heartbroken; in addition to having two good friends move, I am worried sick about my babies.

The kitties are in Tulsa, Oklahoma. We would prefer they go out together. They have made it so far together, and I have no wish to separate them now.

Snuggling Babies 06

Viktor and Emelia are now Sardine and Anchovy (long story). They live with a beagle, so they can probably cope with dogs. They are not rated for small children, so I don't know how they would perform. They are neutered. They are indoor-only cats, and must remain so.

Please, please spread the word and help us find someone who can adopt both of them. Even if you don't know anyone who lives in Oklahoma, spread the word and ask others to spread it, because you really don't ever know who is watching or where they live or who they might know. That is how we found a home for Gracie, with a person who is not even on LJ.

You helped me with these babies once. I hate to ask again, but nobody was expecting this, and there just isn't another way.

If you can take them in or want more information, you can reach their current mother at elspeth@gmail.com or their daddy at dr.omed.gmail.com. I will be forwarding all enquiries that come to me to them, since I personally really can't do anything.

I have nothing interesting or useful to say, so I bring you this, recently spotted on [livejournal.com profile] splodefromcute.

This kitten has epic fierce. Also, jazz paws.

You don't necessarily need sound, but you might need a high-pressure cute suit. I have watched it about ten times and I can't not smile every time.

Got a Secret History update coming courtesy of Lorelei, but I need to finish typing it in. Her handwriting is murderously difficult to decipher.

For now, have some pictures of adorable kittens. I went to visit a friend of a friend to meet the kitten she's taking home, and got to meet the others, too.

Kittens 01

Mom was pregnant when she was pulled off the street. She made some beautiful babies!

Kittens 04

This is the little odd-eyed female that I am especially fond of and who played peekaboo with me on the cat tree. She's side-splittingly cute and very tiny.

More below here. Adorable little white kittens! )

Simon 09

The last round of pics are of Simon, the odd one out. He's stunningly handsome, looks a lot like my cat Thor I had when I was a kid. He's really fuzzy and soft like bunny fluff, and very, very naughty.

Overall, a completely charming time was had. Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] hennafan who was good enough to take me to see the babies. She is lucky. She gets to take Simon home with her!

I would take the little odd-eyed girl in, I want to very badly, but I'm just too worried about the effect it would have on Tazendra, who did not sleep in bed with me or pay attention to me at all while the kittens were staying with us. It hurt her feelings really badly, and I don't think I can do that to her again. I don't know that a single kitten of independent age would upset her as much as three totally dependent fuzzy little grubs, but I love her more than anything, and I don't want to chance making her unhappy. That may sound silly, but anyone who has had a comparable relationship with a cat will understand.

Doesn't mean I don't want a kitten, though. Really, really bad. Aww!

Short version, they've been seen by a vet and will be okay, but there is still an outstanding vet bill that needs to be paid. So, over to [livejournal.com profile] celticmistress for the details. Also, a reader wants to provide incentive for people to donate, and thus makes an offer it's hard to refuse. Read on. The bit with naked bottoms is at the end. Sorry, had to rescind that.

From this entry:

Western Union and the wal-mart reload packs seem to be the most immediate way to get the money to me for the Vet. I called and got them an appointment for Monday which is the soonest appointment the Vet Office had. That gives me time to pick up any money you guys can get to me and have it for when they go in!

After the appointment I will let you all know what was said about their health and give an update. I'll even remember not to lock the post or comments!!

Also I'll give you all a total of the monies collected and let you know how it was spent on the kittens as well. Any extra money will either be donated to the Vet for future kitten help or will be held in reserve to neuter and spay the kittens when they get to be old enough. I leave that choice up to you all.

For anyone who would like to Western Union the funds, You need my name and the city I'm in. ((Amanda Magee, Perry, MI)) And then I need an email from you with your name and the city you're in ((they require that when I pick it up)) You can send the email to celticmistress@gmail.com

If you want to put it on a wal-mart card reload pack, then after you've purchased the pack I need the codes at the bottom of the receipt to be emailed to me. ((Usually a huge font and in bold))

And about the vet visit:

EDIT: The kittens visit cost more than I had, but the nice vet said I could bring the rest too him. I felt a bit like a schmuck for not having the cash on me, but the vet is a good guy and knows his trade. He also gave me a container of special dry kitten kibble which the babies seem to like and he also gave me a coupon for it as well so I can buy more later.

As for their health, Yeah. Not so good, but not horrible either.

The Grey poop apparently means there are intestinal parasites so they both got wormed.
They have ear mites so I have drops to put into their ears twice daily.
They have respiratory infections so I have antibiotics to give them twice a day.
And Apparently the eye thing is treatable too so they both have antibiotic goop to go into their eyes three times a day.
Also, Vet thinks Grace does have a UTI, but the antibiotics for the respiratory stuff should also help her with that. Yaay double use antibiotics!!

I am going to be a busy gal.

And a HUGE Thank You to the Lady who did send me money for the babies. They would say thank you as well but they are nursing their pride from the thermometer they got stuck in their bums!

Sorry re: the last point. Don't make offers you can't back up because you aren't over 18. I assume most people reading me are over that, and that most people aren't going to make an offer they know could get their asses busted, so that's totally my bad. Foot in mouth.

Thank you all so much. I really don't think they would have made it without help. That's all very bad stuff. Their little systems were just not going to get any relief from any quarter without help.

Okay, so [livejournal.com profile] celticmistress is a cat magnet, and has taken in two orphan kittens who look to me to be five weeks old or so. They are sick. Both have respiratory infections, and the female has some sort of urinary/kidney infection and really needs to see a vet. Like the rest of us, [livejournal.com profile] celticmistress is getting fucked by the recession. She can't afford a vet, and no clinics near her do low-cost care.

Details are here.

She doesn't have a paypal account or a bank account right now, due to pulling up stakes and moving across the country to get away from a bad situation last year, so getting money to her is problematic.

I am appealing to you, the group brain, to help think of ways this can be solved. She needs money for the kittens, and she needs a way to get the money.

I'm cutting myself out of the middle, and turning the comments here over to her so that hopefully we can think of something and she can work something out.

The little girl kitten:

The little boy:

I'm really worried. The little girl's symptoms are troubling in the extreme, and I think she needs a vet pronto. The boy has to be treated so he won't reinfect her with the respiratory ick that almost all rescue kittens have.

I know we are all broke, but surely we can come up with a way to help? Please?

They grew up!

Our writers' meeting was at their new parents' house, and I got some pictures. Not nearly enough, but a few.

Here's Emelia:

Big Em 01

As my grandmother was fond of quoting, "The problem with a kitten's that / eventually it becomes a cat."

Not a problem here, unless you count extreme close-range adorability.

You know you want more! )

Big Viktor 01
Viktor at nine months. Not so runty now, is he? I only got the one picture of him because he didn't show up until fairly late in the evening. Their dear little faces have not changed so much that I wouldn't know them anywhere. It makes me all teary.

You can't tell but Viktor's about a third larger than Emelia. Em has turned out to be quite petite. I think she'll be about Tazendra's size, which is not very big. Viktor is about as big as Fish was at his age, which is right around when we got her.

Their people are taking wonderful care of them, spoiling them rotten and cuddling them to shameful excess, and their nicknames of Sardine and Anchovy (long story, very funny, not mine to tell) have stuck. So there's kind of a fish theme going around with cats. I wonder what Fish would think of it, if I could explain it to her. I wish I could tell her that her little buddies are thriving.

See? Happy endings. Or beginnings. Or middles. Happy stories. Happy cats!

Thank you all for helping me. I wish you could have snuggled them as babies, and I wish you could see them now. They aren't alive because of me, they're alive because of youall. And their dad, who saved them from the ductwork. I can't claim much credit. I just did the messy stuff. Couldn't have done it without you.

Do stay tuned. I've been trying to throttle back on the asking for kitty help front, mostly because I've been obscenely busy and frazzled and unable to really keep up with stuff, but a friend has a kitty in New York who really needs a good home. Details tomorrow.

I promised kitty news.

First, go here and turn your speakers up for appropriate background noises. It's endless kitty purring!

Second, Hecate/Widdershins, the black cat who needed a home, has found someone! It was meant to be, apparently. Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] ladymairwen for passing the word along to the lucky new parent. I wish them both a bright future and a happy Halloween.

Third, oh my god you guys, oh my god, the cuteness. Remember that little calico kitten [livejournal.com profile] omimouse found who needed a home? That teeny-tiny kitten?

She is still tiny:

Baby Calico 01

Baby Calico 02

Baby Calico 03

Baby Calico 04

Those last two just break my heart with the cuteness. Furry guys with tiny kittens make me melt like a popsicle.

She is doing well, fighting with her purple hedgehog, and chewing on beards. Bless the three of you for taking care of her. It's stuff like this that gives me hope.

I want to thank all of you, too, for helping out with these things. I sometimes feel like I post about this stuff too much, like I'm going to turn into a mini kitty rescue community. Then again, lately, I've missed a couple of chances to post about things because I've been really busy, and I feel really bad about that too. I can't win for losing, I guess.

What I'm trying to say is I appreciate your patience, and your caring, and your generosity, and your goodheartedness. You people reading this? You are the only reason whatsoever I have any faith in my species left. You consistently prove to me that we actually do have a better nature.

Thank you for that, too.

I want to thank you all for helping [livejournal.com profile] omimouse out with her itteh bitteh kitteh problem. Her very very cute problem.

Costs have been covered, and a home has been found. The plan thus far is, Omi takes care of her until she's a month old, then she goes to her forever home, which will be equipped to deal with her by then. I will keep you updated periodically, and if anything else comes up, I'll let you know.

As a reward, here are pictures of her in a sock sweater.

She climbed out of it shortly after these pictures were taken, alas, but it was adorable while it lasted. There are links to other pictures from Omi's journal. I got all teared up.

You are all such wonderful people. Thank you to everyone who spread the word, donated, and offered good kitty vibes. Another happy ending courtesy of youall. You do good work, and it couldn't happen without you. Thank you most humbly.
