The studio.

I've been coping with considerable amounts of frustration, annoyance, and anxiety by reorganizing my studio space. I talked about it here. I got a lot done, really, I did. Everything in its place, and a place for everything. Almost. Okay. Wasn't perfect. Still, friends and Sargon will tell you it was a major improvement over the cluttered mess that it had been before.

Well, as sometimes happens, I got all that done, and realized that I hated where everything was. The stuff I needed was too far away from me, the stuff I never use was in the way, the bookshelves were covered with stuff that shouldn't even have been in the studio, and one of the bookshelves was right by the window where sunlight could fall on it.

Naturally, I had to fix this.

I am really kicking myself for not taking pictures before I started, because there is nothing for you to compare this to:

Studio Explosion

What a disaster! That's not all the studio, it's just what I could photograph through the door, which would only open a few inches, barely enough for me to squeeze in.

That's after emptying two bookshelves and moving everything away from the near wall, which accounts for the crap everywhere. It looks much better now, after working on it for a day or so, but is still a work in progress.

Hopefully there will be something for you to compare it to soon, though, in the form of a triumphant "Check out my organizing skills!" picture.

I love my studio. I fought for years to get one, and we never did have room for it, or furniture, or a room that had air conditioning (no, this is not a luxury in Oklahoma). I wanted it so much. I am so glad to have it. But because I didn't have one for so long, I'm kind of crappy at it, and haven't been using the space as effectively as I might. Now it's satisfying turning it into a place that is not just nice to spend time in, but is functional.

It's spreading, too. I organized my bedroom dresser drawers. I'm eyeballing the bathroom. Organizing involves hopscotching, really. Moving stuff from one place to another while you get an area straightened out. If you don't have enough room to hopscotch, it's kind of hard to actually get stuff organized. Now I have enough room. Nice.

Just a few pics which will hopefully make you laugh and brighten your day.

Smooch Blue Towel

He was asleep here, so this is not quite the face he makes when he's smiling, but it's pretty close. I get to see this every day. He is so silly-looking.

Funny guy. )

I just thought I would share. He makes me happy, so I thought I would let you laugh at him today like I get to laugh at him every day. He is such a serious little dude.

I really need to write a post about Etrigan and what a train wreck of a cat he is. Oh my god. I just don't have pictures to document this because, frankly, I don't want to take them, and they would be too disgusting to post anyway.
