Here, have some pictures, so you can see what I mean when I say "adorable" and "handsome." Also, he is pretty big:

Etrigan's Handsome Akshuly

Etrigan Napping

Etrigan Yawning

Those are the best pictures I've been able to get of him so far. Black cats are nearly impossible to get good pictures of.

So! The vet visit.

We had a chest x-ray done, and that looked pretty good overall, but showed some areas of denser lung tissue that is probably still infected. He may have asthma, we won't know until we clear the infection, which is a separate issue. His heart and so on looked and sounded good. The vet said she could hear improvement in his breathing, and that we're clearly on the right track, but we aren't at a diagnosing stuff for sure place yet.

He gets more antibiotics and goes back in two weeks for bloodwork and another poking and prodding. We watch, we wait, we do pretty much what we have been doing. I would say it's frustrating, but "watch and wait" is what I decided I ought to expect, instead of a diagnosis, so I'm not freaking out about it.

Thank you so, so much to everyone who has donated. I was able to cover meds, an x-ray, and a good chunk of another x-ray -- which he will need. So I am setting that money aside specifically to be used for that, so we can make sure to get him taken care of. I would say he is grateful, but he is not grateful. He is very annoyed with the world right now. That's okay. It'll clear like an Etch-a-Sketch once he shakes his head a couple of times. Big dummy.

But we are grateful. SO grateful. Thank you.

I will keep you updated.

Isn't he gorgeous? I mean, he is like the furthest thing from frail and wasting away that I can imagine. It's so hard to believe he is sick AT ALL.

it's weird how well cats hide things. I wouldn't have known anything about Momo's cancer if it wasn't for one of her nipples swelling up. She has some swelling on her belly, and I thought she was just putting on weight...

:( Cat belly-chub can sometimes be kind of weird and irregular, too, especially in older cats, so it's hard to tell what's normal and what's not.

He's a gorgeous boy with a perfect pink tongue and gums. I'm glad you guys are able to take such good care of him. I can't send anything but happy thoughts but I was thinking about him all day, and hoping he feels better soon. I understand the worry. happy thoughts

Thank you! Happy thoughts are very much appreciated. He's doing so well right now, and I just . . . all I want is for that to continue, you know? He's such a sweet, good boy. (He did not cry ONCE in the car or at the vet's. Not one single dadblame time.)

I was surprised his mouth is as perfect as it is, considering he'd had four bottom teeth knocked out when we got him as a kitten. You would never know it to look at him. He's missing one incisor on the bottom, and that's all. He has HUGE fangs that are always sticking out a little, so he always looks like a cartoon vampire.

Oh my gosh, he's so big! Wasn't he a little smaller when you got him? I seem to remember him being about half grown. Kittenish behavior is one thing when they're little and quite another when they're 12 lbs! He's a handsome fellow. I hope this round of antibiotics clears up his cough.

He was TINY when we got him. A skinny little thing.

Same type of chair:

THAT was after we'd had him a month.

Here he is the day we brought him home:

Road Rash

So tiny! So spindly!

He is a giant meaty derp-panther now!

Awww, LOVE the giant meaty derp-panther!!

I'm so glad that he's improving, and I hope that this continues -- you let us know when it's time for the next round of X-rays, OK? I was dead broke this time, but I have a bit more money now, and would love to help out when you need it again.

P.S.: Note THIS picture of the youngster sitting in BRIGHT LIGHT. See how he's sealpoint coloured?

I tell you, he's black Siamese!

It doesn't show well in the pictures at all, but he has this beautiful and refined head shape that looks freakin' exactly like an Egyptian cat statue. It's not the shape of the purebred siamese cats, who have that very exaggerated long head and nose, and super-huge ears (Etrigan's are only big, not huge), but it's a shape I've seen many times in cats of siamese extraction, and I think (I don't know, but I think) that it comes from the older type of Siamese cat, the "apple-headed" Siamese. Even when I was young, not too long ago, Siamese cats looked different than they do now, and the breed has changed considerably.

He has that dense coloration and sleek coat of oriental cats. He's really very elegant, when he's not eating barf or knocking things over. *EYEROLL*

You're precisely right! It's the old-school Siamese we grew up with, not the current elongated versions. These black cats are usually within regular Siamese litters, but they're not entirely Siamese. But they usually have the huge voice (I know Di did!).

Yup, they both had the same head/look, too. Dione when she sat up even had the 'break' of the Egyptian statue's back, high up on the spine. I'm betting Etrigan does, too.

However, when BATHING said black kitties, they seem to be tremendously skinny with huge ears when wet! *laughs*

Yes, yes he does! He has that arch to his shoulders, and when he was smaller and didn't have the extra skin hanging on his belly (that's pure alley-cat right there, he's thick in the middle, but very flat side to side) his area of contact with the floor composed of butt and paws was smaller than his width right through that point.

OMG! Those flat sides!

Dione actually learned to PULL HER SIDES IN even further and purr VERY LOUDLY whenever she was begging for food, as if to say: "Look at how THIN I am! I'm so HUNGRY!!!"

Bahaha! "Oh, no, loooook! There's nothing in my tummy but COBWEBS!!!" They can be so transparently manipulative and it's still charming.

He's like a pancake of a cat, and about as floppy when he's feeling snuggly as a stuffed animal

Poor little dude is feeling punky still, and has a vet appointment in two hours, so hopefully they will be able to tell us more and give us something to do that will help him out. He's coughing less, but you can tell he feels under the weather.

Yay E! I'm so glad he's improving.

I've been dead broke while closing my store (everything's going to a $36K+ mortgage I inherited on it two years ago...basically I've only been able to make interest payments and I'm sick of it) so I couldn't help this round, but hopefully I can help on the second round.

Also, signal boosting for Momo on my FB. Mom's a BC survivor, my matron of honor is a BC survivor, and my almost-mother-in-law passed away last year from it. It's horrible, and no life should be lost to it, human or otherwise. Hopefully next week I can put a few drops in the bucket.

Etrigan is 100% Nox's twin, only with smaller ears. Every time I see pics of him it takes me a second to realize it's NOT Nox.

I knooooooow! He was being so cuuuuute! He likes everyone, really, but he seems to especially like you. Even though you pick him up and cuddle him, which he doesn't like from anybody, even Sargon. XD

All animals must endure cuddling from me! *g*

Perhaps he's just remembering all those times he got to sleep nestled on the girls?

I think that is entirely likely, and would certainly make ME roll around at your feet and purr. O:)
